DP Seals has recently completed the design and production of protective rubber bumpers and gaskets for the OT40 and PT60 ranges of handheld terminals made by Oyster Terminals UK Ltd. The project is one of the first to benefit from the installation of two new large moulding presses, which now enable DP Seals to produce components of up to three times the maximum size and thickness previously attainable.

Designed to be very robust, the OT40 is capable of withstanding rough industrial handling including a one-meter drop onto concrete. DP Seals’ nitrile rubber bumper provides the shock protection if the unit is accidentally dropped as well as protecting the terminal’s Xenoy case. These terminals may be fitted with special rubber sealing gaskets, also manufactured by DP Seals, which provide water and dust sealing to the IP65 standard.
Developed to a precise brief from Oyster's engineers, the bumper incorporates PVC additives that enhance appearance and help meet the performance requirements for hand-held equipment being used in such demanding environments as factories, theatres, workshops and warehouses.
In addition to the latest presses, developing the tooling for these bumpers stretched DP Seals’ in-house 3D CAD/CAM modelling capabilities to create the input to its advanced VMC-equipped tool room facility. The final tooling incorporates several moving parts to provide the cable entries through the moulding walls.
DP Seals' investment in new plant and machinery is further evidence of its commitment to the specialist rubber seals and moulding market; the company has already received several orders for larger scale products from a wide variety of industries.
Every customer receives the same high level of service from DP Seals: uncompromising quality control.
